DIY Craft: Coasters using scrap cardstocks

If you have bunch of beautifully designed card stocks lying around and want to use them for something useful, making coasters would be one of the best ways to go. It’s a perfect gift idea, or just for personal use. It’s easy to make and won’t take so much of your time.

Materials:

  • Cardstocks
  • Blank coaster boards (3.94 in x 3.94 in x 0.14 in)
  • Modge Podge
  • Paper cutter or scissors
  • Paintbrush or sponge

Instructions:

  1. Cut the cardstock to 3.5 in x 3.5 inches (if you don’t prefer to have a border, you can cut into the size of your coaster board). Trim the corner.
  2. Apply a thin layer of Modge Podge on the blank coaster board (thin layer will help so your cardstock won’t curl)
  3. Place your cardstock on top of the coaster board then apply a coat or two of Modge Podge on top of coaster board and cardstock.
  4. Let it dry.
  5. Enjoy!

But if you really have no time for DIY (no judgement here) it’s available on our Etsy shop: Chris and Erika Craft

Crochet Starter Kit

Yarn – There are different varieties of yarns to choose from. The weight and type of your yarn will depend on the project you have in mind.

Crochet Hook – The size of your hook and the tension will determine the gauge of your project. If you uses smaller hook than the one your yarn suggested, your project stitches will be smaller and tighter. The bigger the hook, the looser and bigger the stitches are.

Tape Measure – To measure your project and your gauge.

Scissors – You don’t need expensive scissors, but a sharp, good one though will come a long way.

Darning Needle – Used to weave all the tail ends of your projects. When I was starting on crocheting, I just used my hook to weave the loose yarn, but it’s not as better as using the darning needle.

Stitch Markers – They are perfect to mark your projects. Stitch markers doesn’t have to be expensive, you can use bobby pins, or scrap yarns.
